Electronic copies of almost all my papers are available on my
publications web site as either gzipped
PostScript ![[PS]](pix/ps.gif){kind=small}
or PDF ![[PDF]](pix/pdf.gif){kind=small}
files.
- If your browser does not automatically display these files, you may need some additional software. I emphatically do not recommend Adobe Reader, which is an insanely slow memory-hog; there are many faster, more lightweight alternatives. I use Skim, which has some nice annotation tools, but Preview (built into Mac OS X) works fine.

PDF files created before about 2000 contain bitmapped fonts, which causes display problems with some PDF viewers, and which makes text searching and copying impossible.
- PDF files produced after about 2004 were created in one step with pdflatex (via TeXShop), instead of the classical latex→dvips→ps2pdf sequence; PostScript versions of these papers are unavailable.
I also include pointers to "official" electronic versions of several papers on their publishers' web sites. (See the copyright notice.) These are almost always PDF files. Some form of payment or subscription (by you or by your institution) is usually required to access these files. Many of these files are low-resolution scans of hardcopy papers. As a result, these files are very large and of low quality; in particular, crucial features like shading and thin or dotted lines may be missing from some figures. Caveat emptor!
